Walker 1_44 is a basic sweater with a relaxed body fit and a relatively fitted sleeve with a bit of extra length to keep wrists and hands warm, too.<\/p>\n
The sweater is knitted from the bottom up, and shoulder seams closed with a 3-needle bind off. Then, sleeves are worked top down.<\/p>\n
The decorative rib edges are partially based on the \u201cRick Rack Rib\u201d found in Barbara G. Walker\u2019s \u201cA Treasury of Knitting Patterns\u201d and the pattern is named after the author and where to find the rick rack rib: first book in the series, page 44. Barbara G. Walker was born in 1930 and is the author of several books. In addition to knitting, she has written about feminism, mythology, and several other topics.<\/p>\n
The sweater is shown in Rauma Finull and silk mohair held together throughout, but at 18 stitches \/ 10 cm, many other yarn combinations can be used. Work in one color with decorative rib edges for a sweater that is both warm and elegant. Or, use the pattern as a blank canvas and use partial skeins or scraps. The pattern also includes instructions for 2×2 rib edges that will work well when working wild color combinations.<\/p>\n

\nThe shoulders are shaped with German short rows and closed with a 3-needle bind off, and pattern includes links to tutorial for both techniques. The decorative rib edge may be too difficult for beginner knitters, but the pattern also includes the option for easier standard rib edges.<\/p>\n
