Description
Knitting pattern for the Madrigal Mittens, pdf file for download.
The mittens match the Madrigal Hat.
The Madrigal Mittens are worked from wrist to fingertips in stranded knitting. Two colors are worked at a time, and the four colors are rotated in sequence and in dominance, so no single color dominates over the others.
The very small pattern repeats are easy to knit, also for beginners in stranded knitting, and the resulting fabric is both thin and warm.
Size:
Adult size 1 (2 – 3) approx. 18 (20,5 – 23) cm hand length.
Yarn:
Rauma Finull. 4 skeins are used, and that is sufficient for both hat and mittens.
Gauge:
Corrugated ribbing using 2.25 mm (US 1) needle: 28 sts x 8 rounds = 10 x 2.5 cm (4 x 1 inches).
Colorwork using 2.5 mm (US 11⁄2) needle: 28 sts x 30 rounds = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches).
Level:
Medium. This pattern assumes basic knowledge of stranded colorwork, but is easy to work as the repeat is so small. The hat makes a good first stranded knitting project for someone who has practiced their stranded knitting technique. For knitters with a lot of practice in stranded knitting, Madrigal will prove an easy and addictive pattern!
