Description

Knitting pattern for the Iron Forest Cowl, pdf file for download.

The Iron Forest Cowl features a classic Shetland tree motif, framed only by narrow garter stitch edges, so the eye is drawn to the graphic look of the tree.

The cowl is worked in the round, purling every other round. In order to make perfect – and identical – edges, the cowl is worked from a provisional cast on. It is later removed, so both edges are bound off.

Size:
Highly adaptable. The stich count determines the circumference of the cowl.

Yarn:
Shown in Retrofutura Linen, 600 m / 100 g (656 yards per 3.53 ounces), but many other yarns of similar weight would work.

Gauge:
Lace pattern using a 4 mm (US 6) needle: 15 sts x 30 rounds = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches).

Level:

Medium. This pattern uses a provisional cast on, which is a useful and not very difficult technique. The lace pattern is of medium difficulty. The repeat is 26 stitches, but it is easy to see if the pattern line up with previous rounds, so any mistakes are caught immediately.

The pattern is delivered electronically as a pdf file. After purchase, the confirmation screen has a download link. You will also receive a confirmation email with a download link. Please note that the download link will expire one year from the purchase date.
